CARRICKMACROSS ANNOUNCES 2009 SEASON!

The Blowin of Baile GallFollowing the success of its premiere production of 2008's Stones In His Pockets, Carrickmacross Productions announces its 2009 theatrical season of productions.

THE BLOWIN OF BAILE GALL

Carrickmacross Productions will return on June 12, 2009 with the Ohio premiere of The Blowin of Baile Gall by Ronan Noone at Madlab Theatre.

‘BLOW-IN’ — Irish slang for “outsider”
The renovation of a house for an English couple in Baile Gall, a small town in Ireland, cause tensions to build among the natives as old jealousies, bigotry and racism surface regarding outsiders settling in their town. But nothing prepares them for their new fellow employee — a black African refugee. The Blowin of Baile Gall speaks to the ages regarding acceptance and tolerance and the continual struggle and oftentimes war that occurs when your identity is dependent on your property.

The Blowin Of Baile Gall will run June 12 to June 28, 2009. All shows will be at 8pm. All tickets are $20.00.

Ireland’s greatest living playwright, Brian Friel, explores three points of view about one poignant drama in Molly Sweeney. First there is Molly, blind since early infancy, who describes her world before and after an operation to restore some of her sight. Her husband, Frank, who pushed Molly into this operation, relates his view of his wife’s journey into sightedness and his dealings with her doctor. Molly’s once-famous eye surgeon, Mr. Rice, watches both Molly and Frank and reveals his opinion of them along with his own fears in handling the operation.

The exact production dates for Molly Sweeney are TBA, but the show is
tentatively set for June 2009.

Stones in His Pockets, the acclaimed play by Irish playwright Marie Jones, opened on June 19th as the inaugural theater production by Carrickmacross Productions. Jimmy Bohr directed Jon Osbeck and Kevin in their sold-out run at Columbus' MadLab Theatre.

Kevin McClatchy & Jon Osbeck in Stones In His PocketsAbout The Play

Winner of London's Olivier Award, this tragicomedy chronicles the making of a Hollywood movie in a small Irish village, where most of the locals have been hired as extras. Two of the extras, Jake Quinn and Charlie Conlon, become friends and try to further their fledgling careers during the filming. Along the way — with two actors playing 15 roles — Jones explores the tensions that arise between the film crew and the village residents.

"ON WATCH"

Kevin McClatchy in a Scene from ON WATCHOn Watch is a short film about a recently returned U.S. military veteran struggling with Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder.

On Watch was written by Kevin McClatchy, directed by Jon Osbeck and produced by Lisa McClatchy and Carrickmacross Productions. It features Kevin McClatchy as The Soldier and Mike Oatney as The Father.
